You are bidding on a single issue of The Dragon game magazine (Vol. II, No.1 aka issue # 8, July 1977). This is a relatively rare early adventure gaming publication in its first year of existence. At this point, it is billed as “The magazine of Fantasy, Swords & Sworcery and Science Fiction Gaming.” This magazine was received as a subscription copy by fantasy artist/game designer Paul Jaquays.
Comments: The Dragon magazine wasn’t quite the premiere magazine of adventure gaming that it would become in later years. Only months before, it had been little more than a fan magazine devoted to TSR’s military games. Dungeons & Dragons was little more than a couple years old at this point … and still being sold as a white box with three booklets, three supplements, and no dice included. This was my subscription copy to the magazine.
Contents: Usual mixed bag. An article on spatial relationships in the Planes by E. Gary Gygax, a sneak preview of Gamma World, Development of towns in D&D. by Gardner Fox.
Condition: Very good to Fine condition. Lots of small pressure creases all over the magazine, and fairly pronounced fold crease down the center of the magazine. Edge wear is very light. The cover has light wear from reading, shipping. TSR mailed the magazine out without a cover of any kind. There are some faint smudges on the back cover. The address label and is affixed to the back of the magazine. The interior pages slightly softened, not sharp. The magazine has been poly-bagged and in storage since at least 1996. Scans show actual magazine being sold.

But wait! There's More! -- I usually have several Hobby Game related items listed at a time. Please check my other active auctions! I combine shipping!
I have a non-smoking home and this has not been stored in my basement (at least not since 1993). In fact, I don't even HAVE a basement (it’s a North Texas thing). My mission is to clear out the RPG, hobby & computer game-related game items that I have acquired over several decades as reference for earlier projects, as product samples, or occasionally, as something I wanted for myself. The goal of my mission is to get space back in my home, put great stuff in the hands of appreciative collectors, and help cover the cost of college education for my daughters.
Current Terms:
Items are sold "as is." As I noted earlier, I'm selling stuff out of my personal collection, not buying and selling. It's an intentional one way flow. Most of my game items are older and have been in my collection for 10, 20, even 30+ years and some will likely reflect those years/decades of storage, handling, use, packing, repacking, shelving, un-shelving, and exposure to children. Having recently discovered the Acaeum.com website, I’m trying to use their grading guides. I attempt to describe items as accurately as possible, but may miss things, like the occasional interior mark or stain on a book, or an exact count on game play pieces in a board game. Unless otherwise noted, photos and scans are taken of the item you are bidding upon. Like I said … sold “as is” and described as honestly as I can.
Paying Stuff & Combined Shipping: Paypal is preferred, but I will accept bank checks or postal money orders. No personal checks ... ever. Nothing ships without payment being made and checks, including PayPal eChecks, clearing. If paying by Paypal, I use your confirmed address unless my arm is twisted otherwise. If you end up paying collector-level prices for something, I encourage you to add insurance to your shipping choices. I will combine multiple items to save on shipment costs. Let me know within 24 hours of winning how you plan to pay and If you expect to bid on (and hopefully win) other items that I currently have listed. If you let me know, you can delay payment to complete several auctions, but I expect payment in full for purchases within 10 days of your win. If I haven't heard from you or been paid within a couple days of the sale, expect a friendly note. After day 7, I'm likely to be less upbeat about it. If you default on payment, I will dispute your auction and let the world know you may not be the best customer out there.
Shipping Stuff: I try to ship within two to three business days of receiving payment. I know that most of what I’m selling are collectibles and pack things to survive a potentially rough trip. For mail within the USA, I offer Priority Mail, Parcel Post, or Media Mail (for book type items). If you pay with Paypal and choose to use Priority Mail as your shipping option, the shipping costs on your invoice will reflect a 50% discount off the handling price. Please allow me to invoice you to get this discount. Handling discount does not apply to Large Flat Rate Priority Mail boxes – Paypal does not support them as an option yet.
International Shipping: I offer First Class Mail International and Priority Mail International. Both are air mail and somewhat expensive. I cannot insure First Class Mail. I pack items to survive shipping, but buyer assumes all risk of loss and damage if that method of shipping is chosen. The cost for Priority Mail insurance varies from country to country. Your invoice will show the cost to your country. Customs forms are filled out for the paid-for value of the item. If you want an estimate in advance of shipping expenses to your country, please allow at least 24 to 48 hours before the auction completes for me to respond. If you pay with Paypal and choose to use Priority Mail as your shipping option, the shipping costs on your invoice will reflect a 50% discount off the handling price. Please allow me to invoice you to get this discount.
Dragon-a-Day will be ending soon.
