It was network radio show that was based on the series of movies with the Falcon character, created by Michael Arlen in a 1940 story, Gaylord Falcon. On the radio show The Falcon was named Michael Waring, and was played by several different actors throughout its airing: most notably by Les Tremayne in the late 1940's, and Les Damon in the early 1950's. The show had the detective based in New York City, where he battled scumbags, the thugs, and solved various crimes & mysteries. The Falcon liked to do everything solo, as a loner, without any love interest/sub-plots (unlike many other similar detective series). He would always get rid of the love interest / relationship aspect on the phone right at the very beginning of each program. One could say he was somewhat of a workaholic, and that his methods were methodical, solid, and serious, and the cops were usually several steps behind him. The Falcon's lines were sharp, witty, and to the point; as he possessed very little patience for the slow, dim minded people he often would encounter. Like its films, the radio show version of The Falcon had solid, sturdy, thought-out plots... not cheesy or melodramatic.
